ABOUT ME
Practical experience. Evidence-led diagnostics. Clear answers.
Harris Building Diagnostics combines professional thermography with practical estates and facilities management experience to help clients understand what their buildings are telling them and what to do next.
Meet Glenn Harris
I’m the founder of Harris Building Diagnostics. My background is in estates and facilities management, working with complex residential buildings, plant, compliance and maintenance programmes.
I created HBD to bring that real-world building experience together with thermography and supporting diagnostic measurements. The aim is simple: identify issues early, gather useful evidence and give clients clear, practical next steps.
I do not believe a thermal image should ever be treated as the whole answer. Where appropriate, I use thermal imaging alongside visual inspection, moisture readings, relative humidity, temperature and airflow measurements to build a more complete picture of what may be happening within a building.
Whether a survey is focused on electrical equipment, plant, building fabric or a suspected moisture issue, my approach is to keep the findings understandable, evidence-led and useful to the person responsible for the property.

Real-World Building Experience
Hands-on estates and facilities management experience across residential buildings, building services, maintenance and compliance helps me look beyond the image and understand the wider building context.
Practical Diagnostics
Thermal imaging is supported by other measurements and observations where relevant. The objective is to investigate intelligently, not simply produce colourful thermal images.
Clear, Useful Reporting
Reports are designed to be understandable and actionable, with clear findings, supporting evidence, limitations and sensible recommendations for the next step.
Training & Competence
My professional development includes ITC Level 1 Thermography alongside wider building, compliance and project-management training. My background also includes IOSH Managing Safely, Legionella training, CDM 2015 in Practice, fire door awareness, fire stopping awareness, asbestos duty-to-manage training and RICS construction project management training.
For electrical thermography, covers, guards or enclosures are only removed and live electrical parts exposed where this is undertaken by a suitably electrically competent person under appropriate safe working arrangements.
Why I Started HBD
I started Harris Building Diagnostics because I have seen how difficult it can be to make good maintenance decisions when the evidence is incomplete. Thermography can provide valuable information quickly and non-intrusively, but it is most useful when combined with an understanding of the building and its systems.
My goal is to give homeowners, landlords, property managers and facilities teams clearer evidence so they can make better-informed decisions about what needs attention, what should be monitored and what requires further specialist investigation.
